1. Young star

Casparij made his senior debut at just 15! She describes herself as a “modern right-back” who enjoys playing a possession-based game.

“I’m very quick, I like to play on the floor – not just play long,” she explained. “I really want to play the Manchester City style and I think it’s a good choice.

“City have an impressive team. I hope to be a great addition and bring my own strengths, see how I can adapt to the style of play and improve.

“I hope to improve defensively. There are great wingers at Club and in the league so I’m going to be tested more than once!

2. European dreams

Kerstin says the highlight of his career so far was his Champions League debut for Twente last season.

“Playing in the Champions League with Twente and winning the league last year are my highlights, 100%,” she said.

“Playing in the Champions League was surreal. I always reminisce about the same moment – one thing I remember the most: we were playing Benfica in Lisbon, waiting to go out on the pitch and suddenly the crowd started screaming. sing, shout and clap.

“We were like, ‘What’s going on?!’ It was one of those moments where you’re very much in. ‘Wow, this is really happening!’

3. Dutch Courage

The defender says her proudest moment was her first call-up to the Netherlands senior team.

She made her debut in a World Cup qualifier against Cyprus in October 2021 and made 13 appearances for The Orange to date, including at this summer’s Women’s Euro where they faced Filippa Angeldahl’s Sweden in the group stage.

“I was just at home when I got the call,” she recalls. “Someone else had gotten injured and they called me and said, ‘You’re in the team and you can come tomorrow.’

“I was stressed. ‘Do I have everything?!’ Luckily I had been with the Under 23s so I had my bags, but I was very stressed. “I can’t forget anything! »

“I called my mum and dad and they were so happy, so proud of me.”

Off the court, she is an avid player and a lover of photography.

“I’m very good at games,” she said. “I love photography – I have an old-fashioned Polaroid camera and I like to walk around and take pictures of everything.

5. Blue is the color

Asked about an alternative career if she hadn’t ventured into football, Casparij thinks she would have been a police officer!

“When I was a kid, I once shouted, ‘I want to be a policeman!’ and I think I just took that with me.

She loves Harry Potter, rating the film series as her all-time favorite, and currently listens to the audiobooks.

“I think that makes me very popular here!” She smiled. “Harry Potter is huge, right?”

7. It’s a rap

Her favorite current musical artist is American rapper Jack Harlow, although she says her musical tastes are wide-ranging.

She adds that she could make suggestions to the lodge DJ Alex Greenwood!

“Right now, I’m listening to a lot of Jack Harlow. Maybe if I have some good songs, I’ll hit Alex!

8. Creaky Dreams

Perhaps she was destined to move to the UK as her favorite dish is ‘stamppot’ – the Dutch equivalent of bubble and squeak!

“Bubble and squeal!” Is it good? Did I say it in a correct way?!” she laughed.

“It’s something my mother always did around Christmas.

“It’s the feeling of nostalgia while eating it.”

9. Dog lovers

She loves dogs and has three canine companions: Moezel, Nala and June.

“At my parents’ house we have two French bulldogs and I have a boomer – a Maltese Shih Tzu mix at my mother-in-law’s house,” she revealed. “I love them a lot.

“I heard a lot of the girls have dogs too, so I think I’ll feel right at home.”

10. Credible in Ink

Although she doesn’t have any tattoos at the moment, she’s open to inking during a major trophy celebration.

“If I have something on my arm, you know how it went!” she smiles.
