Declan Bennett and Caleb Marshall-Villarreal will also join the cast at the Al Hirschfeld Theater.
Red Mill! Musical comedy will welcome new cast members Ashley Loren, Derek Klena, Declan Bennett and Caleb Marshall-Villarreal starting May 10. They will succeed original cast members Aaron Tveit, Tam Mutu and Ricky Rojas, as well as Natalie Mendoza, who are all set to depart from the musical on May 8. Based on the movie of the same name, Red Mill! continues its tour at the Al Hirschfeld Theater on Broadway.
Ashley Loren will play Satine, having been Satine’s alternate since the show opened on Broadway in 2019. Tony-nominated Derek Klena will play Christian, Declan Bennett will play The Duke of Monroth and Caleb Marshall-Villarreal, member of the original cast, will star Santiago.

“The pandemic has highlighted stunt doubles and alternates as the backbone of the Broadway community. We are thrilled that Ashley Loren and Caleb Marshall-Villarreal, key members of our company since our opening, who have played Satine respectively and Santiago on numerous occasions, will now take on these starring roles,” producers Carmen Pavlovic and Bill Damaschke said in a statement. “We are also thrilled to welcome Derek Klena and Declan Bennett. These very talented leading men are exceptional additions to our bohemian family.”
Directed by Alex Timbers with a book by John Logan and choreography by Sonya Tayeh, Red Mill! opened on Broadway in 2019 after its Boston trial. The score includes covers of “Fireworks” by Katy Perry, “Your Song” by Elton John and “Chandelier” by Sia, among others. The story takes place at the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris and follows the tragic love story between performer Satine and composer Christian.
The production’s music team includes Justin Levine as Music Supervisor, Matt Stine as Music Producer, and Cian McCarthy as Music Director. Orchestrations are by Levine, Stine, Katie Kresek and Charlie Rosen, with dance arrangements by Levine and Stine.
The creative team also includes Derek McLane as Set Designer, Catherine Zuber as Costume Designer, Justin Townsend as Lighting Designer, Peter Hylenski as Sound Designer, David Brian Brown as Hair Stylist, Sarah Cimino as as makeup artist and the creative services of Luhrmann and Catherine. Martin. The cast is provided by Jim Carnahan and Stephen Kopel.

After the Broadway premiere, Red Mill! later opened productions in London’s West End and Melbourne, Australia. Additional engagements are planned for Germany and Japan, and a domestic North American tour was launched earlier this month.
