Former European Guitarist Kee Marcello Explodes “A ** Holes” Poison For “Ripping” His Song

During an appearance on the White Line Fever Podcast, old EUROPE guitarist Kee Marcello explained how his 1980s Swedish glam rock band EASY ACTION was forced to take legal action against POISON for allegedly “stealing” the chorus from EASY ACTION song “We are going to rock” for the POISON american crash “I want some action”. EASY ACTION would have obtained a financial settlement in this matter.

Kee said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’ve had [in] contact with the producer of POISONalbum of [‘Look What The Cat Dragged In’], Ric browde, and he told me that he had brought the EASY ACTION album and the HANOI ROCKS album in the studio when he made the POISON album, and he put “We are going to switch” and suggested to the group to do a cover. And they said, ‘This is a fucking Swedish glam band. Who is going to find out? ‘ And they just scammed us. And it’s Ric browde personally say that. So it’s so obvious that it happened.

“If I had made such a mistake, I would say, ‘I’m so sorry. I screwed up. Dude, I took your song. I am really sorry. I will redeem myself. ‘ [But] To this day, believe it or not, they completely deny it, “he continued.” When POISON play at Swedish rock festival, they had a press conference, and someone asked – a lot of people asked – ” Kee Marcello? What about EASY ACTION? What about “We are going to switch”? ‘ And they said, ‘[We] never heard of any of those. And that was the end. Then people tried to continue, but they outright denied it. And it’s so ridiculous. At least okay, you sometimes get it wrong.

“So, I don’t know. I don’t want to see these assholes.”

Regarding how EASY ACTION ended up receiving a financial settlement in the case, Kee says: “The editor [for ‘We Go Rocking’] is Warner Chapel Music. I am [listed as the] one hundred percent [writer] music, and there are three of us [who are credited for] the lyrics – the singer, the bassist and me – in “We are going to switch”.

“The thing is, I was so busy when it happened, I didn’t continue [POISON]; it was Warner Chapel Music who pursued them and threatened to bring them to justice ”, Marcello Explain. “It was really a stupid deal. I wonder why they didn’t. Instead, they reached an out-of-court settlement. But as you know, when you make a settlement, they don’t. do not have to. [publicly admit] that they [did anything wrong]. If we had sued them, I would have co-authored their song, which I think would have been fair. This is how you admit that you did something wrong. Because [if I had been listed as a co-writer on ‘I Want Action’], every time they make a best-of POISON album and the song is there, the money is coming back to me. This is not the case now. We have just received this sum of money, an amicable settlement. If I had been more connected to all this… If there is one regret I have, it’s not to take their sorry asses to court.

EASY ACTION was formed in the early 1980s and was a pioneer band on the Swedish and Scandinavian glam rock scene. When the singer Tommy nilsson joined the group in 1986, they evolved into a more friendly sound for adult radio. The album “That makes a” caught the world’s attention, but its momentum quickly stopped when Marcello left the band to achieve worldwide success as the band’s new guitarist EUROPE. Nilsson went on to become one of Swedish pop’s biggest stars, scoring several huge national singles. After several years of success with EUROPE, Kee released solo albums and a biography as well as starred in the musical “Rock of the ages”, among other projects.

An earlier incarnation of EASY ACTION, with Zinny Zan singing, had met in the past, but in 2019, the “That makes a” the formation of the group made its first comeback since 1986 exclusively to the Swedish rock festival. The show marked Nilssonfirst return to the world of hard rock in 33 years. The lineup also included the guitarist Chris Lind, bass player Nalle Påhlsson (TO TREAT, THERION) and old EASY ACTION live keyboard player Jörgen Ingeström.

Earlier this year, EASY ACTION released a video for a new song “Dazed”, which was written about the wave of populist propaganda that has reshaped the world in recent years.
