Jimmy’s story
More than four years in the making after the meticulous historic restoration of an original 1905 YMCA building, the club – named after a local businessman James Labriepassed away in 2016 – is the brainchild of his sons, local restaurateurs/developers and jazz and blues enthusiasts Michel and Pierre Labrie, co-owners of Groupe Labrie, a real estate company. The company also owns Atlantic Grill and river house Restaurants.

“We wanted to make a valuable contribution to jazz and blues music and we felt the best way to do that was to create one of the best jazz and blues clubs in the world – right here in the Greater Portsmouth, NH coastal community that my brother and I love so much,” says Michael.

Inspired by a Moulin Rouge-style cabaret vibe, the venue features a multi-level brick and beam interior with original stained glass windows, two stately original atrium windows and a new addition of glass and wood. multi-stage steel in the rear. All Jimmy’s guests will discover an architectural treasure that is a blend of carefully preserved historic details and beautifully designed new construction.

Jimmy’s One Year Anniversary
Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club celebrates its 1st birthday on September 30e 2022 with 3x-GRAMMY® Award Winner & 5x-GRAMMY® Award Nominated world-renowned bassist RON CARTER. Ron Carter appeared on over 2,250 recording sessions, making him the most recorded jazz bassist in history. In 2021, Carter received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Jazz Journalist Association. Carter was a member of the second Miles Davis Quintet in the mid-1960s, which also included Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.
