Cher and Saweetie seem like an unlikely pair. For MAC’s “Challenge Accepted” campaign, these artists appeared together and even enjoyed dinner afterwards. Here’s what we know about these musicians and what they had to say about their collaboration.
Cher and Saweetie have teamed up with MAC Cosmetics for the “Challenge Accepted” campaign
In addition to working on Mamma Mia: here we go again and create the Dancing queen album, Cher recently teamed up with cosmetics company MAC, starring in an ad campaign alongside rap artist Saweetie. For Saweetie, it was a particularly sentimental project due to Cher’s presence.
“I was honored to be associated with a legend like Cher and a brand that I have always loved like Mac. It was the perfect solution, ”Saweetie said in a statement, according to Variety. “Cher’s regal energy is so infectious, so being by her side on Challenge Accepted was an unforgettable experience.”
With MAC offering waterproof formulas, in connection with the “Challenge Accepted” campaign, these musical icons asked makeup fans to test their products against perspiration, water, cold and bad weather.
Cher and Saweetie are close friends, even having dinner together
Saweetie and Cher had not met prior to their collaboration on the MAC campaign. Since working together, however, these artists have become close friends. Cher even said the two enjoyed dinner sometimes.
“I never met her, but saw a video and liked her essence,” Cher said in an interview with People. “We got along really well. Now she’s coming to dinner!
Saweetie often collaborates with other artists for songs like “Swan Song” and “Best Friend”
When it comes to music, Saweetie often collaborates with other artists. The artist performed “Swan Song” with NIKI on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: The Album, released in conjunction with the original Marvel film. One of her most popular songs, “Best Friend,” premiered with Grammy-nominated artist Doja Cat.
Saweetie has also appeared in several advertising campaigns outside of her work with MAC. The “Best Friend” rapper has teamed up with Beats to promote the Beats Fit Pro. Saweetie has even worked with McDonald’s to bring the “Saweetie Meal” to several fast food outlets.
As a legendary artist, Cher is often considered a trailblazer for her roles in infomercials and ad campaigns, partnering with brands decades before this became the norm.
“I paid dearly for having done [the infomercials]. I got so hot because of it, really … [now] things have completely changed, ”she said during the People interview. “You continue and that’s the challenge. Things don’t always go well and you need to be prepared to expose yourself, put your ass on the line, set an important goal, and then keep going. “
Cher and Saweetie’s music is available on most major streaming platforms.
