Ozzy Osbourne has admitted that one of the songs from his upcoming album Patient number 9 can be controversial. The song “One of These Days” contains the lyrics: “One of those days when I don’t believe in Jesus“It’s gonna suck, I guess,” the former Black Sabbath singer admitted. classic rock magazine.
Still, he doesn’t want listeners to get the wrong idea. “It’s not an ‘I’m an antichrist’ song,” he explained. “It’s about those days when everything goes wrong, and you go crazy trying to make it all right.”
Osbourne revealed that when Eric Clapton, who plays guitar on the track, first heard the line, he was worried. “He said, ‘Oh, I’m not sure about those lyrics,'” Osbourne recalled. ‘So we tried to replace it with alternatives. We did that’One of those days when I don’t believe in Christmas,’ but it didn’t sound right. Losing faith in Jesus makes a lot more sense when the world is going to shit.”
The singer said he’s proud of the upcoming LP, which also features guest appearances from Jeff Beck, Duff McKagan and the late Taylor Hawkins, among others. “I think that song and the whole album went well,” he said. “But, having said that, I never went into the studio and thought, ‘This time, I think I’m going to make a bad record.’ The best record is always the one you make next.”
There is one goal that Osbourne still hopes to achieve. “I still want to have a number one record in England,” he said. “And this album is worthy of being the only one. Nobody thought that Sabbath would reach number one with our last album, 13, so why not dream? I did my best and I’m happy, now it’s up to the fans to decide his fate. No matter what, I won’t let the world forget me.”
Patient number 9 releases September 9.
