It’s just a few weeks away from 2022, and the local music scene has never looked more vibrant or more exciting. What are we inaugurating this year, and what are the tunes we are going to sing?

Rap music is Pakistan’s current musical identity in a changing cultural context. We are producing rappers faster than the government can supply us with electricity or gas. There are some great names in the rap game including the underrated Sunny Khan Durrani or the overrated Young Stunners and many more. However, within these growing towers, one man who stands out more than others is Faris Shafi. Frankly honest, this hawk among rappers has given great hits including ‘Introduction’, ‘Nazar’ and ‘Waasta’ (with Ali Sethi) among many others. What Faris lacks in releases like several EPs, he makes up for by releasing songs that are daringly vulnerable and fierce. We are not surprised that Faris Shafi is doing his Coca Studio debut in his upcoming season and find a national platform he so deserves.
In: Coca Studio
Output: everyone
A New Year means music shows that have started breaking out of chains to brands thanks to the continued presence and success of Coca Studio. Bisconni Music returns with a second season, with at least one music channel broadcasting a lackluster program, eerily similar to Coca Studio. Can we live with that and design shows that don’t look like imitation efforts? However, with Xulfi leading the series as the executive producer for this season of Coca Studio, we’re pretty excited to see the debuts of several artists on the show, including the one and only Faisal Kapadia, formerly of the band Strings. From traditional giants like Atif Aslam, Ali Sethi and Meesha Shafi to newer names like Karakoram and Talal Qureshi, this is a season with the most non-conforming roster, taking the digital music TV series in a new direction. We approve.

Outing: singles
Okay, so technically artists won’t stop releasing singles but we’re happy to see more and more artists releasing EPs and LPs. A full album is an artist’s identity and tells you what their sound and story are. The entry of new bands and rappers added to the available music repertoire. From Takatak to Karakoram, Kashmir, Auj, Bayaan, Malang Party, The Sketches, Ahsan Bari – the albums have helped listeners understand what artists represent in a musical sphere. In 2022, a number of artists will continue to follow suit and abandon EPs and LPs. Among them, the electro prodigy Abdullah Siddiqui, the tasty Sounds of Kolachi and the icon Natasha Baig.
In: The emergence of local record companies
Out: The old model of record companies
The birth and growth of labels such as A for Aleph Records, Rearts Records and Push Arts clearly indicate that emerging labels today are taking a progressive, united and collaborative path for the artists in their arsenal. They provide the environment artists need to work on their music, while giving them the essential social media boost and hosting concerts of all sizes.
But if you are looking for tapes and CDs and all that, don’t think so. Buying a limited number of merchandise from an artist is one thing, but everything has gone digital. Even a package received by, says a member of the press, carries – mostly – a USB stick for the port that replaced the Walkman and CD player by a huge margin. Merchandise of this type also depends on the artists and their marketing plan. Most artists will tell you their music online, whether it’s Spotify or a local music app like Patari.
In: Organized concerts
Output: random broadcasts
Again, random shows aren’t exactly all the rage, but with companies like Salt Arts, Rearts, and the new Push Arts, we’re starting to see an increase in thoughtfully-organized musical concerts without bringing together a random number of people. ‘artists. The idea of younger acts opening up to a bigger name, or shows presenting an aesthetic or ideology by presenting a particular set of artists, is, by design, more meritorious in terms of the audiovisual landscape on display. This allows fans to really focus on what is being presented to them rather than a cultural fair where music can be one of the many elements, but not in Neo’s seminal way of. The matrix is.

online concerts
The current version of the coronavirus is creating a panic that first appeared when this infectious virus did. Thus, the following rules relating to the coronavirus, such as wearing masks, should not be ignored. However, in several cities, including the metropolis of Karachi, concerts have resumed. From music’s biggest names, Atif Aslam, to new sensation, Hasan Raheem, music shows are no longer just a rarity to be enjoyed digitally. In fact, when you have the choice of watching your favorite artist live or digitally, the best idea is to experience the concert with organizers making sure that the atmosphere is safe enough for all genders.
In: Intimate shows
Release: Major concerts
As coronavirus cases continue to rise, it doesn’t make sense to put on a show so big that it becomes mosh-pits friendly. An intimate concert, with a strict number of people, is a safer idea where people don’t stand side by side but can maintain a somewhat healthy distance. It also means that the most loyal fans will buy tickets and enjoy the gripping music that awaits them. Intimate concerts of any kind, Eastern, Western or something in between, should not be organized just for one neighborhood or place. A better idea would be to take them to different venues in a city or organize multiple parties so that those who don’t have a chance to see the show – due to X number of people allowed – can also make it. experience, eliminating geographic boundaries. and remember urbanization, context and geographic divisions, capital and class struggles. It is only when music becomes accessible to all that it will become the pulse of the nation in a true spirit.
